The 14-year-old boy who was injured in an accident at the Pal Bike Park on Sunday remains in serious condition in the semi-critical care unit of Vall d’Hebron Hospital in Barcelona, according to RTVA.
The teenager suffered a crash while practising downhill mountain biking at the La Massana facility. The accident caused multiple traumatic injuries and he was initially taken by emergency services to Nostra Senyora de Meritxell Hospital in Andorra la Vella.
After receiving treatment in Andorra and due to the severity of his injuries, medical teams decided to transfer him to Barcelona so that he could continue receiving treatment at a specialised hospital.
Two cycling accidents in less than two hours
The boy’s accident occurred during a particularly difficult day at Pal Bike Park, where two separate cycling accidents took place in less than two hours.
The first incident happened at 11:45 a.m., when the boy crashed while riding on the downhill course. As a result, he suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was airlifted to Nostra Senyora de Meritxell Hospital.

She also suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was airlifted to Nostra Senyora de Meritxell Hospital for medical treatment.
The two accidents occurred at different times and required the intervention of emergency services to treat and evacuate the two cyclists.
The boy remains hospitalised in Barcelona
In the 14-year-old’s case, the severity of his multiple injuries led medical teams to arrange his transfer to Barcelona after he had initially been treated in Andorra.
The boy remains in the semi-critical care unit at Vall d’Hebron Hospital, where he is continuing to receive medical treatment.
