A 66-year-old non-resident man has been extradited from Spain to Andorra after being internationally wanted by Andorran authorities as the alleged perpetrator of fraud involving more than €6,000 and unlawful association.
The man was considered a fugitive, and Andorran judicial authorities had issued an international arrest warrant against him. His details were circulated through Interpol Andorra, allowing the Spanish Police, through Interpol Madrid, to locate him in Spain and arrest him.
After being brought before the competent Spanish judicial authorities, the decision was ultimately taken to carry out his extradition to Andorra.
Transferred to Andorra and remanded in custody
The extradition was made possible through cooperation between Andorran and Spanish authorities, both diplomatically and at police level, with the involvement of the Spanish National Police.
The man was transferred to Andorra on Thursday and immediately brought before the investigating judge handling the case.
Following the relevant judicial proceedings, the judge ordered his prosecution and remand in custody at Andorra’s prison, where he will remain at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
The extradited man is accused of fraud and unlawful association, for which he had been internationally wanted by Andorran authorities.
