Acció Feminista to rally this Monday for free and unrestricted access to abortion
The association calls on the public to gather at Parc de la Mola at 6.30 p.m. to mark International Safe Abortion Day
Acció Feminista has called a rally for tomorrow, Monday 28 September, at Parc de la Mola, opposite Caldea, to demand free and unrestricted access to abortion in Andorra. The gathering will begin at 6.30 p.m., coinciding with International Safe Abortion Day.
The association is urging the public to take part and bring this demand back to the streets. The group calls for abortion to be available “legally, safely and within the healthcare system”.
Opposition to the continued criminalisation of abortion
One of the reasons behind the rally is the association’s opposition to what it says is the continued criminalisation of abortion under the new Criminal Code adopted this year. Acció Feminista stresses the need to decriminalise abortion and guarantee access within Andorra’s healthcare system.
Tomorrow’s rally aims to raise awareness of this demand and bring together those who support the group’s call.
Concerns over rhetoric against sexual and reproductive rights
In its call to participate, Acció Feminista also denounces what it describes as a “reactionary offensive” and warns of “the rise of rhetoric that challenges sexual and reproductive rights”.
Against this backdrop, the association champions women’s autonomy under the slogan: “We defend the right to decide over our bodies and our lives”.
