According to Casal, the Council of the European Union will begin the procedures for signing the agreement. The spokesperson said it would be among the issues on the agenda for the meetings with Albares.
Cross-border cooperation and mobility
The meeting with Espot will address the main issues in the bilateral relationship, including cross-border cooperation, mobility, sustainable economic development and Andorra’s efforts to build closer ties with the EU.
Tor and Albares will subsequently hold a working meeting to explore further cooperation in areas of shared interest.
The visit follows an invitation extended by the Andorran minister to her Spanish counterpart during their meeting in Madrid on 18 December last year. Casal said the meetings reflected a shared commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and good neighbourly ties between Andorra and Spain.
Border agreement text now available
The spokesperson highlighted that the text of the border agreement is now available on the European Union’s website. Its publication coincides with preparations for the Spanish minister’s visit and precedes the formal signing procedures.
Casal did not specify a date for signing the agreement or announce that it would take place during Albares’s visit.
