“We are a country where wealth should not be stigmatised, nor should support be handed out indiscriminately”

Andorra Endavant argues that wealth creation is essential, but insists that economic growth must translate into a tangible improvement in people’s quality of life. 

Under the slogan “Neither stigmatising wealth nor indiscriminate handouts”, the party rejects both rhetoric that casts entrepreneurs and investors in a negative light and policies that treat everyone’s circumstances as identical.

The party believes Andorra must move away from such policies, which it says “eat away at a country”, and advocates a model that takes account of each person’s effort, contribution and actual needs.

“It is not about distributing resources for the sake of it. It is about creating opportunities, rewarding effort and prioritising help for those who truly need it,” the party argues.

Growth that serves the public

Andorra Endavant champions a strong economy, with business owners and entrepreneurs generating wealth and jobs. At the same time, it warns that growth “cannot be an end in itself”, but must serve the country and its citizens.

It therefore calls for tax revenue to fund projects that improve people’s quality of life. The party identifies responsibility, merit, effort and “well-targeted solidarity” as the pillars of its proposed model.

It also distances itself from “imported ideological approaches that do not necessarily reflect Andorra’s circumstances”, summing up its position as the need to create wealth, protect those who need and deserve support, and preserve the Andorran model.

Espot links wealth creation to funding public services

The party’s position comes amid debate over economic growth and its effects on the country. In an interview with Gabriel Fernàndez on RTVA’s Avui serà un bon dia, Prime Minister Xavier Espot argued that economic activity in recent years has generated revenue to fund infrastructure and social benefits.

Espot warned against imported ideological trends that portray wealth creation as something negative. He also contrasted opposition to new buildings and commercial activity with demands for more public services, guaranteed pensions and road infrastructure.

The prime minister acknowledged, however, the housing affordability problems and urban development pressures associated with growth. 

Nevertheless, he argued that the revenue generated makes it possible to fund outstanding investment projects, such as the La Massana and Sant Julià de Lòria bypasses, maintain a pension system surplus and expand social benefits.
