Total household spending on goods and services in Andorra increased by 7.2% in 2025 compared with the previous year, according to data from the Household Budget Survey. The increase was significantly higher than the rise in prices recorded over the same period.

Average spending per person rose by 4.8%, while average spending per household increased by 5.5%. Taking into account the 2.6% increase in prices between 2024 and 2025, total household spending grew by 4.5% in real terms.

Adjusted for inflation, average spending per person increased by 2.1%, while average spending per household rose by 2.8%.

The increase in consumption varied considerably depending on the type of goods and services. Spending on clothing and footwear surged by 44%, while expenditure on education services increased by 38.8% and spending on recreation, sport and culture climbed by 29.7%.

By contrast, households reduced their spending on health by 13.4%, while expenditure on furniture, household equipment and routine home maintenance fell by 10.9%.

More household spending stays in Andorra

Another significant trend was the increase in spending within the country. In 2025, 85.4% of total household expenditure was made in Andorra, while the remaining 14.6% was spent abroad.

Compared with 2024, total spending within the Principality increased by 9.4%, while expenditure abroad decreased by 3.9%.

Spending within Andorra increased across almost all categories, with education services recording a particularly sharp rise of 157.5%. Spending on clothing and footwear increased by 46.5%, while recreation, sport and culture rose by 25%.

There were three categories in which domestic spending declined: health (-16.9%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (-3%) and furniture, household equipment and routine home maintenance (-2.4%).

Spending abroad increased in several categories, particularly insurance and financial services (+55.8%) and recreation, sport and culture (+35%).

However, households significantly reduced their overseas spending on personal care, social protection and miscellaneous goods and services (-54.1%), furniture and household equipment (-53.8%), transport (-48.2%) and food and non-alcoholic beverages (-36.1%).

Almost two in three residents live in rented homes

The Household Budget Survey also provides an overview of the living conditions and housing situation of people residing in Andorra.

Renting remains the most common form of housing tenure in the Principality, and its share increased compared with 2024.

According to the figures, 62.8% of people living in Andorra reside in rented accommodation, meaning almost two out of every three residents are tenants.

For the most recent rental contracts — those less than one year old in 2025 — the average monthly price fell from €12.8 per square metre in 2024 to €12.1 in 2025. The median price, however, edged up from €11.9 to €12 per square metre.

The picture is different when all rented properties are taken into account. Across the entire rental housing stock, the average monthly price increased from €9.4 per square metre in 2024 to €9.9 in 2025, equivalent to a rise of around 5.3%.

The figures also show that residents had occupied their main home for an average of 12.2 years in 2025, slightly less than in the previous year.

In terms of household composition, 54.8% of the population lives in households without dependent persons. Of the total population, 14.1% live in single-adult households, while 40.7% live in households with two or more adults and no dependants.

Finally, private vehicles remain widespread among Andorran households. Some 84.4% of households own at least one car, while 26.5% have at least one motorcycle or moped. By contrast, 14% of households do not own any vehicle.

In addition, 13.3% of households own at least one second home. Of these properties, 68.2% are located in Spain and 16.8% in Portugal.
