Andorra Population Surpasses 90,000 Residents in 2026
By nationalities, the annual increase is led by the group grouped under other nationalities
Andorra’s resident population has surpassed 90,000 people for the first time, reaching 90,021 residents as of July 31, 2026, according to the latest figures published by the Department of Statistics.
The figure represents an increase of 1,715 residents, or 1.9%, compared with July 2025, confirming the continued growth of Andorra’s population.
Andorra’s population growth is led by Canillo and Escaldes-Engordany
Population growth has been particularly strong in several of Andorra’s seven parishes.
Escaldes-Engordany recorded the largest increase in absolute terms, with 347 additional residents, representing growth of 2.2% over the previous year.
It was followed by Canillo, which added 316 residents (+5%), Encamp, with 296 additional residents (+2.2%), and La Massana, which grew by 269 residents (+2.2%).
Ordino added 183 residents (+3.2%), while Sant Julià de Lòria increased by 170 residents (+1.7%).
By contrast, Andorra la Vella recorded the smallest population increase, adding 134 residents, or 0.5%, compared with July 2025.
Foreign nationalities drive part of Andorra’s population growth
The increase in Andorra’s population varies significantly by nationality.
People grouped under other nationalities recorded the largest annual increase, with 798 additional residents, representing growth of 5.2%.
The number of Andorran nationals increased by 458 people (+1.2%), while the Spanish population grew by 372 residents (+1.8%).
The French population recorded the strongest percentage growth among the main nationalities, increasing by 252 people, or 6.3%.
Meanwhile, the number of Portuguese nationals fell by 165 people, representing a 1.9% decrease compared with the same month of 2025.
More than 73% of Andorra’s population is aged between 15 and 64
The latest population figures also provide a snapshot of Andorra’s demographic structure.
People aged between 15 and 64 account for 73.3% of the resident population. Children under 15 represent 10.6%, while people aged 65 and over account for the remaining 16.1%.
The figures show that Andorra continues to have a population largely concentrated within the working-age bracket, although more than one in six residents is now aged 65 or over.
Andorra’s municipal registers exceed 94,500 people
The number of people recorded in Andorra’s municipal parish registers is higher than the official resident population.
As of July 31, 2026, 94,596 people were registered in the municipal censuses, an increase of 427 people, or 0.5%, compared with the 94,169 registered in July 2025.
The difference between the 90,021 official residents and the 94,596 people registered in municipal censuses is due to the different criteria used for each statistical measure.
Andorra population reaches a new milestone
The latest figures confirm the continued demographic expansion of the Principality. Andorra now has more than 90,000 official residents, with population growth particularly concentrated in Canillo, Escaldes-Engordany, Encamp and La Massana.
The new milestone comes as Andorra continues to experience significant demographic and economic changes, with population growth remaining a key factor in areas such as housing, employment, public services and infrastructure.
