Security forces checked nearly 340 people and 151 vehicles during a large-scale operation in Toulouse’s Grand Mirail area on Tuesday, September 8. The operation targeted drug trafficking and traffic offences and also included inspections of local businesses.

According to La Dépêche du Midi, citing figures from the prefecture of Occitanie and Haute-Garonne, the operation involved the National Police, the CRS 09 unit, municipal police and the inter-neighbourhood safety and security group. David Foltz, the prefect’s chief of staff, visited the area to observe the operation.

During identity checks in public spaces, seven foreign nationals without legal residency status were detained. Officers also arrested one person for drug possession, issued three fines for the same offence and made several drug seizures.

Traffic checks and business inspections

One driver was arrested for driving without a licence. Checks on the 151 vehicles also resulted in nine citations for various traffic offences.

A further seven fines were issued for insurance violations, driving without a licence and illegal street sales of tobacco.

Meanwhile, authorities inspected four local businesses. Three received formal administrative notices requiring them to address failures to comply with hygiene regulations.

The prefecture said security forces would remain mobilised to maintain safety and tranquillity in public spaces.
