Chamber of Commerce calls for a national plan to boost Andorra’s productivity and competitiveness

The Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services has called for a national productivity and competitiveness plan to establish a shared strategy for Andorra. The proposal envisages the Government and other public authorities leading the project in collaboration with the business community, according to ANA.

The Chamber’s proposal seeks to lay the foundations for “a cross-cutting strategy with clear priorities, specific measures, deadlines and indicator monitoring” .

The organisation is therefore advocating a planning framework that identifies the actions to be taken and includes mechanisms to track their progress.

The initiative has received a favourable initial response from the Government. Prime Minister Xavier Espot has expressed openness to taking the plan forward, while noting that work is already under way in some areas that align with the Chamber’s proposal.

A strategy involving public authorities and businesses

One of the central elements of the proposal is the involvement of public authorities and the private sector. The Chamber wants improvements in productivity and competitiveness to be addressed through a coordinated approach, within a framework that includes business participation.

This collaboration would help identify priorities and translate them into specific measures. The proposal also calls for deadlines, giving the planned actions a clear timeframe for implementation.

Monitoring through indicators is another of the pillars outlined by the Chamber. Including them in the plan would make it possible to assess the implementation of measures and provide benchmarks for evaluating the strategy’s results.

Espot receptive to the proposal

The Prime Minister’s response opens the door to further work on the initiative. Espot has expressed his willingness to take it forward and stressed that the Government’s work already includes initiatives aligned with the Chamber’s approach.

The proposal places productivity and competitiveness at the centre of joint planning by public institutions and the business community. Its development would require the priorities, actions and deadlines that the Chamber wants included in this national framework to be defined.
