Former international footballer arrested in Sant Julià on suspicion of twice-monthly drug-selling trips to Andorra
Police found nearly 200 grams of hashish and 11 grams of cocaine sealed and vacuum-packed in the boot of his vehicle
Police arrested a 43-year-old former Andorra international footballer in Sant Julià de Lòria on Wednesday morning on suspicion of drug trafficking.
Investigators suspect that he travelled to the Principality approximately twice a month to sell drugs before returning abroad, where he lives.
In a statement released on Friday, police said the arrest followed an investigation by the Public Health Offences Group within the Judicial Police and Criminal Investigation Department.
Officers intercepted the suspect after establishing that he had re-entered the country, possibly carrying drugs intended for distribution.
During the check, officers discovered nearly 200 grams of hashish and 11 grams of cocaine in the boot of his vehicle. The substances were sealed, vacuum-packed and concealed inside a bag.
Regular trips to the Principality
According to investigators, the man, who is from Andorra but lives abroad, allegedly made regular trips to the country to sell drugs. Police estimate that he visited approximately twice a month, leaving the Principality again after each trip.
