Project proclaims a country governed exclusively by women on the Andorra–Spain border
The “Free Queendom of Lilith” claims a wooded area near Os de Civís that it describes as land belonging to no country
A project called the “Free Queendom of Lilith” claims to be establishing a country governed entirely by women on the border between Andorra and Spain.
On its website, the initiative places one of its claimed territories near Os de Civís and presents itself as a model for a matriarchal society.
The proposal describes its purported country as covering 0.13 square kilometres of high-mountain woodland.
A territorial claim near Os de Civís
According to the project’s description, one of its seven territories lies 1.67 kilometres south of Os de Civís, near the road connection with Andorra via the CG-6. The website also uses Aixovall and Sant Julià de Lòria as geographical reference points.
The organisers maintain that this area is terra nullius, meaning land that belongs to no state. To support this interpretation, they refer to maps they attribute to Spain’s National Geographic Institute and Andorra’s Spatial Data Infrastructure.
This is, however, the project’s own interpretation. The documents it reproduces contain no statement from the Spanish or Andorran authorities confirming that the area falls outside either country’s sovereignty.
A system governed exclusively by women
The project describes itself as matriarchal and gynocratic, proposing a system in which power would rest exclusively with women. It presents Lilith as a symbolic homeland for women and girls worldwide, regardless of their background or national identity.
Its stated aims include supporting women persecuted because they are women, promoting networks of solidarity among women and coordinating international action. The initiative also promotes itself on social media, inviting people to help build a country governed by women.
