Rockstar Games has offered its most extensive look yet at Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI) in action. The company has released a presentation lasting nearly 27 minutes, providing a much closer look at Vice City, protagonists Jason and Lucia, and some of the new features coming to one of the most anticipated video games in recent years.

The presentation, initially released through Netflix and later published by Rockstar, was captured entirely from the game running on PlayStation 5, according to the developer.

This means the footage is not limited to cinematic sequences created to promote the title, but offers a much broader look at how the game will actually appear on the console.

The video represents the most extensive official look at GTA VI released so far, showing everything from shootouts and police chases to everyday situations across Vice City.

Rockstar aims to make the city and the fictional state of Leonida significantly more active and detailed than the environments seen in previous entries.

Among the most notable additions is the presence of social media within the game itself. The smartphone will once again play an important role, giving players access to a platform filled with videos, influencers and eccentric characters.

The feature expands on one of Grand Theft Auto's defining elements: its satire of American society. This time, Rockstar appears to be directing much of that satire towards social media, influencers and the culture surrounding viral videos.

Jason and Lucia at the Heart of the Story

The new footage also provides a closer look at Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, GTA VI's two protagonists.

Rockstar's story begins after what was supposed to be an easy score goes wrong, leaving the pair caught up in a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida and forcing them to rely on each other to survive.

The presentation shows that their relationship will also play an important role during missions. In several sequences, while the player controls Jason, Lucia moves independently, takes cover and actively participates in confrontations.

The footage also shows more everyday moments between the pair, including conversations while driving, scenes inside their home, smartphone messages and moments of downtime. Rockstar appears to be giving their relationship a much greater role in the story than simply allowing players to switch between two characters.

The footage also highlights much smoother transitions between cinematic sequences and sections directly controlled by the player. At certain points, the camera moves from conversation to gameplay with virtually no visible interruption.

A Much More Lively Vice City

Rockstar has also used the presentation to showcase the number of situations players will encounter simply by exploring the world.

The protagonists can interact with animals, enter different establishments, drive a wide variety of vehicles and encounter fights, conversations and characters seemingly going about their own lives without the player having to trigger a mission.

The video also shows activities including basketball, scuba diving, boating, racing and parachuting, alongside nightclubs, parties and other entertainment venues spread throughout Leonida.

Rockstar's ambition appears to be for the leap beyond GTA V to come not only from a larger map or improved graphics, but also from the sheer number of things happening simultaneously around the player.

Interiors also feature a significant level of detail. Apartments, businesses and other locations include televisions showing fictional advertisements, interactive objects and conversations between characters, maintaining the franchise's characteristic humour and social satire.

Police Chases and New Mechanics

The police system will also feature significant changes. The new footage shows vehicle and helicopter pursuits alongside indoor confrontations and shootouts across different areas of Vice City.

Some elements of the interface also suggest that the vehicle being used, clothing or the protagonists' appearance could influence how police identify them.

Rockstar has not yet fully explained how this system will work, meaning it remains unclear to what extent changing vehicles or altering a character's appearance could help players evade the authorities.

Combat also appears to have been updated, with smoother movement, new animations, close-quarters confrontations and slow-motion moments during certain sequences.

GTA VI Will Launch in November

The new presentation forms part of the final stretch of Rockstar's promotional campaign ahead of the launch of one of the decade's most anticipated video games.

Grand Theft Auto VI is officially scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. These remain the platforms currently confirmed by Rockstar for release.

The company describes GTA VI as the biggest and most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series to date. After years in which much of the information surrounding the project came through leaks, the new footage finally provides an extended official look at the experience Rockstar intends to deliver with its return to Vice City.
