Marco Rubio congratulates Andorra on Meritxell Day and highlights shared commitment to national sovereignty
The US Secretary of State praises technology cooperation and seeks to expand investment opportunities in the Principality
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has congratulated the people of Andorra on Meritxell Day, highlighting both countries’ shared commitment to national sovereignty.
In a statement issued on September 8, the top US diplomat described Andorra as a “steadfast friend” that shares the goal of ensuring a secure and prosperous future for its citizens.

Speaking on behalf of the United States, Rubio extended warm wishes to Andorrans as they celebrated their patron saint, Our Lady of Meritxell, and welcomed the momentum built in relations with the Principality over the past year.
The Secretary of State particularly praised Andorra’s continued collaboration with American technology companies to strengthen its digital infrastructure and financial sector security.
The statement also expressed a desire to build on this cooperation in the coming year, with the aim of expanding opportunities for US businesses and investment in the Principality.
To mark the occasion, Washington reaffirmed its partnership with Andorra and extended its best wishes to the Andorran people for the year ahead.
