Demòcrates backs a broad political platform for the 2027 general election
DA will begin talks with national and parish parties and is open to bringing in people with no current political affiliation
The Demòcrates executive committee agreed on Monday to pursue a broad political platform for the next general election, which the party expects to take place in the first four months of 2027.
The proposal seeks to bring together different parties, individuals and political perspectives around a shared programme addressing Andorra’s main challenges and citizens’ concerns.
Party president Ladislau Baró and organising secretary Maria Martisella presented the proposal during the executive committee’s monthly meeting with parish representatives.
Those attending endorsed DA’s participation in such a platform after discussing matters relating to the work of the government, parliament and parish councils.
A proposal shaped by discussions with parish committees and other parties
According to Demòcrates, the initiative emerged from meetings that Baró, Martisella and secretary-general Guillem Casal have held over the past year with the party’s parish committees and other political groups.
The platform would be built around a shared policy programme covering the challenges Andorra faces in the short, medium and long term, alongside the population’s main concerns.
The party’s announcement did not identify which political groups might join or set out specific policy proposals.
Talks to begin in the coming weeks
With the executive committee’s backing, party officials will launch a series of discussions and working meetings with national and parish-level parties over the coming weeks to explore their potential involvement.
The proposal also envisages bringing in people with experience and expertise who do not belong to a political party or have no current involvement in politics.
Monday’s decision gives the go-ahead to develop this electoral platform, with its membership and programme still to be determined.
