France closes investigation into Daniel Siad’s death; he was suspected of recruiting women for Jeffrey Epstein
Siad, who was under investigation in Paris following several complaints, died in July aged 69
The Nanterre prosecutor’s office will close its investigation into the death of Daniel Siad, who was suspected of recruiting women for Jeffrey Epstein, after finding no criminal offence connected to his death. The French public prosecutor’s office announced the decision on Thursday.
Siad, a modelling agent who had faced several complaints, including one for rape, was found dead at his home in Colombes, in the Hauts-de-Seine department, in July. He was 69.
Tests point to a heart-related cause of death
The autopsy found no signs of recent violence, but noted that Siad was in poor health and had suffered an earlier heart attack that could have put him at risk of sudden death.
Further forensic tests ruled out a toxic cause and identified medical conditions that could have led to a heart-related death.
The Hauts-de-Seine Territorial Judicial Police had been tasked with establishing the circumstances of his death. Siad, who was under investigation in Paris, denied the allegations and had said he wanted to give his account to investigators.
In September, Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau said investigators had identified other possible recruiters who had worked for Jeffrey Epstein.
