Andorra has 41,336 households, with an average of 2.18 people per household
One-person households make up 37.5% of the total, while average household size continues to fall
Andorra had 41,336 households on 30 September 2026, according to estimates from the Statistics Department. Compared with the 90,122 residents recorded on the same date, that equals an average of 2.18 people per household. The figure is down 0.2% from the previous quarter and 0.8% from the same period in 2025, when it stood at 2.20.
Andorra la Vella has the most households, with 11,398, followed by Escaldes-Engordany with 7,150 and Encamp with 6,643. La Massana has 5,848; Sant Julià de Lòria, 4,136; Canillo, 3,722; and Ordino, 2,439.
La Massana and Canillo record the biggest increases
Compared with the previous quarter, the number of households rose by 2% in La Massana and 1.8% in Canillo. It also increased in the other parishes, except Sant Julià de Lòria, where it fell by 0.2%.
Statistics attributes some of the decline to the standardisation of census addresses. Year on year, La Massana recorded the largest increase, at 5.8%. Canillo was the only parish where the number of households fell, by 3%, a decrease also largely explained by the address review.
Nearly four in 10 households have one person
One-person households account for 37.5% of the total, or around 15,500. Two-person households make up 25.3%, with 10,451 households. Households of three to five people total 13,194, or 31.9%, while 2,203 households have more than five members, representing 5.3%.
Sant Julià de Lòria has the highest average, at 2.49 people per household, followed by Ordino at 2.40 and Escaldes-Engordany at 2.29. The average is 2.18 in Andorra la Vella, 2.13 in La Massana and 2.07 in Encamp. Canillo has the lowest figure, at 1.77 people per household.
Compared with the previous quarter, Ordino was the only parish where the average household size increased, by 0.1%. La Massana recorded the steepest fall, at 0.7%.
Year on year, Canillo had the largest increase in average household size, at 7.1%, while La Massana saw the biggest decrease, at 3.4%. The figures point to a general trend towards smaller households, although there are differences between parishes.
