Sílvia Orriols, a member of the Catalan Parliament and leader of Aliança Catalana, will visit Andorra on 21 September for a live interview with Artur Homs, director of the podcast Fet a Andorra.

The conversation will focus on the values shared by Catalonia and Andorra, the challenges facing both territories and opportunities for cooperation on security.

The interview will explore Orriols’ views on relations between Catalonia and Andorra, as well as issues affecting communities on both sides of the border.

Aliança Catalana’s controversy over La Seu d’Urgell

The visit follows controversy over remarks by Ramon Abad, an Aliança Catalana representative, who linked Andorra’s immigration policies to La Seu d’Urgell becoming a Ceuta 2”. Abad made the comparison during a radio interview with RTVA.

The party argues that the neighbouring town receives people who have to leave Andorra because their residence permits expire or because they are expelled. Andorra’s government has rejected accusations that the Principality is responsible for turning La Seu d’Urgell into a “Ceuta 2”.

Against this backdrop, the conversation between Artur Homs and Sílvia Orriols will place security and cooperation between Catalonia and Andorra among its main topics, alongside shared values and the future challenges facing both territories.
