Andorran Police arrested eight people over the past week for alleged offences against physical and moral integrity and collective safety. The cases include two arrests related to assaults and six for driving under the influence of alcohol.

The first incident occurred on Monday at 11.32 am in Andorra la Vella, when officers arrested a 42-year-old man accused of assaulting his partner at their shared home. Police were alerted by the hospital after a “purple code” was activated, the protocol used in suspected cases of gender-based violence.

Arrested for assaulting a 12-year-old boy

The second assault occurred on Saturday at 7.22 pm, also in Andorra la Vella. Police arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly assaulting a 12-year-old boy.

According to the police report, the boy had previously been involved in a fight with the arrested man’s stepson in a park in the parish. The man allegedly intervened afterwards and attacked the child.

Six arrested for drink-driving

The other six arrests involved men aged between 28 and 54 who were driving under the influence of alcohol. All of them recorded blood alcohol levels above 0.87 grams per litre.

One of the arrested drivers was also carrying a knife with a 7.7-centimetre blade inside a belt bag. In addition to the road safety offence, he was therefore arrested as the alleged perpetrator of an offence involving the illegal possession and carrying of a weapon.
