Spain's National Court (Audiencia Nacional) has sentenced a man arrested in Puigcerdà in December 2025 to three years in prison for spreading jihadist propaganda and promoting content linked to terrorist organisations across several social media platforms.

According to RàdioSeu, the convicted man maintained an extensive online presence, regularly sharing messages supporting Islamic State (ISIS/Daesh) and Hamas, as well as posts justifying acts of violence.

The investigation began after a Telegram user alerted authorities to messages praising a suicide bombing carried out by Islamic State in Syria. The report prompted police to investigate the suspect's online activities.

Videos of beheadings and calls for violence against 'infidels'

Police investigations established that the man managed several accounts on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and Telegram, using these platforms to distribute extremist propaganda and content encouraging violence.

Among the materials identified by investigators were videos showing the beheading of prisoners, alongside posts inciting attacks against people described as "infidels".

An examination of the seized mobile phones also revealed that the convicted man had searched online for information about travelling to Syria, purchasing jihadist flags and joining Hamas.

Defendant admits terrorism-related offences and accepts prison sentence

During the judicial proceedings, the defendant and his legal team acknowledged the facts underlying the offences of terrorist self-indoctrination, self-training for terrorism and glorification of terrorism.

This admission allowed the case to be resolved with a final three-year prison sentence, without the need for a contested trial.
