Andorra's Housing Union (Sindicat d'Habitatge) has called a demonstration for Thursday, November 5, at Plaça de la Rotonda in Andorra la Vella, aiming to bring renewed attention to the country's housing crisis and the growing difficulties residents face in finding affordable rental accommodation.

The protest will mark the third anniversary of Andorra's housing rights movement and comes at a particularly sensitive moment, as the country prepares for the gradual unfreezing of rental contracts and the potential consequences for tenants.

The organisation intends to use Thursday's gathering to announce further demonstrations planned before the end of 2026, maintaining pressure on public authorities over the state of Andorra's property market.

The mobilisation reflects continuing concerns about housing affordability, particularly as rental prices remain a major financial burden for many households.

Andorra's Housing Union Announces Continued Protests

Rebeca Bonache, spokesperson for the Housing Union, has already warned that demonstrations will be “ongoing”, according to RTVA.

Her comments suggest that Thursday's protest will not be an isolated event, but rather the beginning of a new phase of public mobilisation over housing conditions in the Principality.

Access to affordable housing remains one of Andorra's most pressing social challenges, with residents facing a property market characterised by limited supply and strong demand.

The Housing Union, which has now been formally established as a legal association, aims to strengthen its organisational structure and continue campaigning for measures to address rising rental costs.

The group also intends to maintain public pressure as the government moves forward with changes to the country's rental regulations.

The Unfreezing of Rental Contracts Raises Concerns Among Tenants

The demonstration comes as Andorra prepares for changes to the legal framework governing rental agreements, an issue that has generated considerable political and public debate.

The planned unfreezing of rental contracts has raised questions about the future evolution of rental prices and the protections available to tenants.

These concerns are particularly significant in a country where housing supply is limited and demand for rental properties remains high.

For residents already struggling with accommodation costs, uncertainty surrounding the new rental framework has added to concerns about long-term housing security.

Against this backdrop, the Housing Union is seeking to keep affordable housing at the forefront of the national political agenda.

Plaça de la Rotonda to Host the November 5 Housing Demonstration

Plaça de la Rotonda, in central Andorra la Vella, will once again become a gathering point for housing campaigners this Thursday, three years after the movement began organising protests for more affordable accommodation.

The demonstration will also provide an opportunity for the Housing Union to reveal its upcoming campaign schedule.

The organisation has already made clear that further protests are expected before the end of the year, as the debate over rental regulations and housing affordability continues.

Thursday's gathering will therefore serve both as a commemoration of the movement's third anniversary and as a platform for renewed demands concerning Andorra's housing crisis and the future of the rental market.
