The trade union leader had publicly disclosed his pancreatic cancer diagnosis
Gabriel Ubach, Secretary General of the Unió Sindical d’Andorra (USdA), has died, according to information provided to this newsroom. The trade union leader had recently announced that he had pancreatic cancer and that his prognosis was poor.
His death comes just days after his illness became public. On 19 September, La Veu Lliure reported on his determination to remain committed to the country despite the severity of his diagnosis.
Committed to Andorra until the end
Ubach had explained that doctors had told him he had little time left to live. Faced with this situation, he expressed his determination to keep fighting for the people of Andorra until the end.
The USdA Secretary General said he had devoted himself to Andorra and wanted to continue doing so until his final days. His words reflected his desire to keep standing up for the country, even during an especially difficult time in his personal life.
With his death, the Unió Sindical d’Andorra loses its Secretary General, who had reaffirmed his commitment to the public when announcing his illness.
