Andorran Police arrested two non-resident men, aged 55 and 57, in Canillo on Friday morning, on suspicion of belonging to an organised criminal gang allegedly responsible for a significant number of residential burglaries committed in Andorra since May 2026.

According to the police, both suspects were arrested on suspicion of offences against property and public order. Investigators believe the gang may be responsible for at least seven of the twelve residential burglaries recorded in the Principality over the past six months.

The alleged offences mainly took place in residential buildings in Andorra la Vella and Escaldes-Engordany, with incidents reported in May, August and October.

More Than €120,000 Stolen in Jewellery, Luxury Watches and Cash

The suspects allegedly entered homes while their owners were away, using different techniques to avoid detection.

Among the stolen items were jewellery, high-end watches and cash, with the total value of the property stolen so far estimated at more than €120,000.

However, the final figure could be considerably higher, as it does not include several gold items whose owners have been unable to determine their monetary value.

Police believe the suspects belonged to an organised criminal group that operated in a coordinated manner and carried out burglaries quickly.

International Criminal Gangs Operating Across Europe

The investigation conducted by specialists from the Criminal Investigation Department has established that several organised criminal groups from abroad may be behind the series of burglaries reported in Andorra.

According to police, these itinerant gangs travel across Europe, targeting residential properties where they know nobody is present.

They typically operate quickly and employ specific methods designed to make their activities difficult to detect immediately.

Investigators believe this modus operandi was used in several burglaries committed in Andorra la Vella and Escaldes-Engordany.

Police officers have spent months gathering evidence, identifying suspects, establishing possible links between the incidents and tracking their movements.

Investigation Launched in May Leads to Two Arrests

The police investigation began in May, following the first reported residential burglary.

Since then, specialists from the Property Crime Unit of the Judicial Police and Criminal Investigation Department have gathered evidence that enabled them to identify the suspects and monitor their movements.

Part of the investigation had already been referred to the judicial authorities, and a national arrest warrant had been issued for the suspects.

Investigators suspected that members of the gang might return to Andorra to commit further burglaries. As a result, officers remained on alert and continued monitoring their movements.

The operation culminated on Friday morning, when the two men were located and arrested in the parish of Canillo.

Police Continue Investigating Other Burglaries in Andorra

Despite the two arrests, the investigation remains ongoing.

Officers specialising in property crime are continuing their work to identify those responsible for other residential burglaries reported throughout Andorra in 2026.

According to the police, investigations into the remaining cases are progressing positively, although no further arrests have been announced in connection with those incidents.

The Andorran Police also remind residents of the importance of immediately reporting any burglary and avoiding disturbing potential evidence that could help investigators identify those responsible.
