Qatar-based JTA International Investment Holding has added Andorra to its international investment agenda, exploring opportunities in infrastructure, energy and sports as part of its global expansion strategy.

According to Spanish business newspaper Expansión, the group's founder and CEO, Amir Ali Salemi Zadeh, visited Andorra in early October and met with Prime Minister Xavier Espot, along with government ministers, business leaders, institutional representatives and local associations.

The meetings aimed to assess Andorra's economic priorities, identify potential business opportunities and explore investment projects in the small European country.

Discussions also focused on creating opportunities for Andorran companies to enter the Qatari market, according to sources familiar with the meetings.

Infrastructure, energy and sports among JTA's investment priorities

JTA is particularly interested in infrastructure, energy and sports projects with the potential to generate long-term economic value.

The investment group is considering partnerships with local Andorran businesses, combining their knowledge of the domestic market with JTA's financial resources and international expertise.

Such partnerships could provide a framework for developing investments while involving companies already established in the Principality.

However, JTA has not publicly disclosed how much capital it plans to invest in Andorra or which specific projects could move forward.

JTA appoints representative in Andorra to pursue investment opportunities

Following its October visit, JTA has appointed a representative in Andorra to maintain contact with local institutions and businesses.

The representative will oversee discussions with potential partners and monitor investment opportunities identified during the visit.

Establishing a local presence suggests the company intends to continue exploring the Andorran market beyond its initial meetings with government officials.

Nevertheless, the potential investments remain at an exploratory stage, and no completed transactions have been announced.

Qatar-based investment group operates in 50 countries

Founded in 2010, JTA International Investment Holding initially specialised in financing before expanding into direct investment and equity acquisitions.

The company now operates across several industries, including manufacturing, energy, healthcare, technology, financial services and tourism.

According to Expansión, JTA has a presence in approximately 50 countries.

Among its international investments, the group has committed 50 million to a pharmaceutical complex in Turkey in partnership with KZA Medical, as well as 45 million to Sepidan Drilling Services.

JTA also has business interests in Germany, Canada, Indonesia, Greece and Vietnam.

Spanish market could become JTA's next expansion target

Andorra's inclusion in JTA's investment strategy could form part of a broader expansion into the Iberian Peninsula.

The group is reportedly considering opportunities in Spain during a possible second phase.

Approximately one year ago, JTA held negotiations to acquire Spanish football club Getafe CF, although the proposed transaction was never completed.

In Andorra, meetings with Prime Minister Xavier Espot and local business representatives have opened discussions about potential foreign investment in strategic economic sectors.

However, no specific investment agreements or confirmed projects have been publicly announced.

The appointment of a local representative could be an important step in determining whether JTA's initial interest develops into concrete investments in the Principality.
